Scheduling is hard sometimes.
August 31, 2022
Hey everybody, it's me. I know, I know, It's Wednesday. There goes my perfect record of being on time with the blog. But hey, if that's the worst thing to happen to any of us this week, we've got it made. Things can get ahead of us every now and then, but we try our best to manage what we can. The last couple of weeks have been eventful, so let's get right into it!
Quick recap, then the new.
While the heat's still doing what it can, it's safe to say that Fall is just around the corner. With the addition of a few rainy days here and there, lately the weather's been hanging onto the high temperatures as long as it can muster. Out of all the environmental hazards that effect the shop throughout the year, heat is definitely the most manageable. Not a walk in the park, mind you, but manageable. Here soon I'll have posts where I'll talk about how the snow and ice hinders us, which would honestly be a new experience for me as well! I started at this job back in May, so I've never had the opportunity to see how the shop runs during the Fall/Winter. I've been told it doesn't get slow, and that it actually gets significantly warm inside, so I guess that's a good sign.
But while the heat's here for now, we've made good use of it: We had a houseboat to clean!
Going to the Seas
... Well, maybe not "the Seas". Rowan County's lakes are pretty big, though, so they'll do just nicely. A regular client of ours asked if we could help him out again with a good, thorough cleaning of his houseboat, so the team packed up and went on a field trip last Friday to get it done! I've mentioned this to all of you before, but those nice summery days and myself don't necessarily fit well together. That, and with a bad leg, I was stationed at the shop to make sure all phones were answered, and all paperwork attended to. Hey, it may not sound like much, but every part of the shop needs someone to help run it. Back to that whole teamwork thing, you know?
Last time we were called out to work on a houseboat, I was on the scene with them. Hot spring day, but also the first time I've ever seen a houseboat in person (let alone step aboard one). Since my time working here, it's definitely one of the most unique vehicles we've had booked to detail.
So yeah, pretty neat stuff going on. The rest of the week played out relatively normal; clients came and left, cars along with them. Hopefully soon we'll see some more interesting items come through our doors (or, for that matter, we go through our client's doors. Anything to make sure we get the job done!)
So, in the meantime, I'll keep you posted. Cheers.
