Surviving the storms, both literally and metaphorically.
July 19, 2022
Hi again, everyone! I hope all of you have had a good week; it's definitely been a wild one over here at Wynn Auto. But no need to worry, we've had it under control of course. Sometimes a hectic week is just what you need to get a better perspective on things, and as the heat gets swapped for storms so does the ever-constant flow of the days change their speed. Not much of a grand introduction needed like last week, so let's move on with the news!
The rain is fine, but only in small amounts.
For a portion of people, it may come as obvious as to how the weather effects a business like a detailing shop. "Not alot of good reason to get your car cleaned during a rain" you'd say, and for the most part you'd be right. And because of that, we take some extra precautions to ensure all isn't for naught. Cars are required to stay underroof as much as possible, unbeknownst drizzles can make us rush to ensure nothing gets messed up: the usual for this time of year. We take extra care of the vehicles we get during bad weather to make sure they're still rolling out looking great. But while the rain has made us act accordingly, it definitely wasn't doing so earlier in the week.
The old adage of "Kentucky weather is never predictable" is more worn tired and used-up than the almost anything else around here, and personally I've grown tired of hearing it. And while I've been on record saying that I enjoy the more moody, gloomy times of day, it's never consistent. The morning can be bright and shiny, birds chirping and all that jazz - It's it a bit and the storm sirens are going off in town later that afternoon. Next week it could start snowing, if it felt like it. Needless to say, it's a tad irritable when the weather can't make up its mind.
Adapt and Overcome
But hey, not all's under the water just yet. It's still work, after all, and just because the rain is making it more of a hassle doesn't things don't need to be done. Cars are still coming in, and we still have to do what we do best.
Our crew has been more than busy out on the main floor this past week. At one point we had 20+ vehicles listed in for a single day! All taken care of, of course (I won’t bore you with the paperwork side of things, but it was certainly an endeavor to make sure things got done in a timely manner). The week filled up as the days went, and I'd be lying if I said a good bit of stress doesn't go hand-in-hand with the job sometimes. I guess that's nothing out of the ordinary, though, no matter where you work. It's nice to know that all of the effort that goes into the shop helps out our clients at the end of the day; it's that part of being a service to the community. Pride in your work, a sense of accomplishment and whatnot. The team here at Wynn Auto has been doing good, despite a few bumps along the way.
On the more tech side of things, we've got some new updates coming up soon! Nothing that I can say for the moment, but it's definitely where alot of my work has been focused on recently. Both Zac and I put serious thought into how we can improve every aspect of this business: from the customer experience to the services and the logistics of everything, we always have to have our ears to the ground when it comes to the shop. One of the main focuses right now is how we can spread the word about us better! We've had such a hassle with trying to get our new location fixed on certain search engines, and eventually we will find an answer for it. But, until then, word of mouth travels far. We try to mention it as much as possible over on the Facebook page and here on our website. And so far, it's been helping immensely: clients come in all the time and say that they've read amazing customer reviews (thank you very much) and have seen our presence on social media.
All in all, things are good - I would even go as far to say that things are great. I know it's not the most exciting thing to read about; The Life And Times Of Your Neighborhood Detailer would be a hard movie to pitch, I'm sure. But it's not really about the excitement, more along having a wholesome way to communicate with our clients and community members. Business keeps booming, and we do our best to keep the wheels straight and on course. Next week I'm planning on trying out some new ideas for the blog, but nothing concrete at the moment. Got alot of things to do, and while this is definitely a priority, it's all about the balancing act. Can't let the Jenga tower fall, y'know? Hope everyone out there is having a blast. From what I've heard today, the skies should be clearing up soon and things can start going at full speed again.
In the meantime, I'll keep you posted. Cheers.
